Dillian Whyte has spent over two years rebuilding his career after that brutal knockout courtesy of Anthony Joshua.

The pair were almost on a level playing field at that time, but since Joshua sent his opponent sprawling to the canvas in the seventh round their trajectories became polar opposite.

Joshua now holds the IBF and WBA world heavyweight titles, while the 'Body Snatcher' has the WBC silver belt after having to rebuild his career.

The Olympic gold medalist has also sold out Wembley and the Principality Stadium (formerly Milennium) in world title fights against Wladimir Klitschko and Carlos Takam.

He has already done the same at the latter for his unifcation bout with Joseph Parker at the end of the month, and Whyte fought on the undercard of the Takam fight against Robert Helenius to win the silver belt.

The man from Brixton has also fought in America against Malcolm Tann to try and boost his profile, but he will have to go a long way to reach AJ's level.

However, he has certainly managed to rebuild his hype and reputation, and if he manages to beat Lucas Browne in just under three weeks' time he will almost be assured of a shot at a world title.

That could mean going full circle and meeting Joshua again, and Whyte has admitted that the two have actually spoken about a potential rematch.

And it's good news for fans of Whyte, because he says that Joshua is very keen to have it out in the ring once more.

"I bumped into him at the O2 the other day," he started. "He was talking about the rematch and I said, ‘Listen, you win your fight, I win my fight and then we can talk seriously’.

"He was the one who mentioned it and I said, ‘I’m game, I’m always  ready to rock. Let me focus on this fight with Browne first. I’ll get that out of the way and then if you’re serious we’ll sit down and have a talk and then we’ll see’."

Whyte actually beat Joshua as an amateur, which is why the first fight drew so much attention, with the latter looking to avenge that defeat.

He did that and then some, but Whyte had him wobbling enough in the early rounds to give enough reason to suggest he may have a chance in the rematch.

'The Body Snatcher' says he would fight his old enemy over and over again, because they just enjoy fighting each other, regardless of any belts being on the line.

He did add though that taking four titles from him would be the ultimate satisfaction.

"If Joshua lost the world titles tomorrow and the next ten fights after that, I’d still fight him," he continued.

"I just enjoy fighting that guy and he enjoys fighting me. We wouldn’t need one rubber match, we’d need ten rubber matches.

"I’ll fight him five or six times if I have to. It’s just a good fight.

"What would give me the greatest pleasure is AJ becoming undisputed champ with four belts — and me taking them off him!"

Any rematch does seem some way off though, with Whyte on course to fight Deontay Wilder, the WBC world title holder, if he does beat Browne.

There are all sorts of permutations and if Whyte does pursue that route and loses it would delay it even further, but at least the fans can see that both fighters are game to make it happen.
