Just when you think Arsene Wenger is on the brink and cannot sink any lower, he does.Arsenal have now lost four games in a row for the first time since 2002 and Wenger's near 22-year reign at the club is in serious jeopardy, and not for the first time. The Gunners are 13 points behind north London rivals Tottenham in fourth place and unless they win the Europa League, it seems impossible that Arsenal can qualify for the Champions League for the second year in a row.According to The Mirror, Arsenal have drawn up a four-man shortlist to replace Wenger in the summer that includes Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, Monaco's Leonardo Jardim, Germany's Joachim Low and Manchester City assistant manager, Mikel Arteta. However, one name that keeps creeping up is Thierry Henry. The Sky Sports pundit is incessantly quizzed with succeeding Wenger at the club every time he covers an Arsenal game and as the club's record goalscorer with 228 goals, it's easy to see why.Henry is currently Roberto Martinez's assistant with Belgium and it seems as though most Arsenal fans would prefer to see him come in at the Emirates as a number two before being given the big job.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Henry admitted he wouldn't shirk the challenge if the opportunity presented itself, but he will never lobby for Wenger to be sacked.

"Listen, I’m a competitor, you don’t back down from a challenge," Henry said.

"We are hypothetically speaking before people jump ahead of everything, (but) I have never backed down from a challenge since I was young.

"If you love a place and they ask – I repeat, they ask – for help, you are always going to say yes.

"We are talking about shall he quit or not – I can never say that. I am not sitting on the fence, I can never say that. I have battled with this man, I can never say that. Do you understand what I mean? I can never say that."

Wenger has had ultimate power at the club for so long, there can be no one to blame but himself. However, with Arsenal's new infrastructure that has seen Raul Sanllehi arrive from Barcelona to essentially become the director of football and Sven Mislintat come in from Dortmund as the club's new chief scout, they need a coach after Wenger.

That could give Henry a stronger chance than before, but Arteta, having worked so closely with Peo Guardiola, must be intriguing.
