One word to describe Manchester United's first-half performance against Crystal Palace on Monday Night Football: diabolical.Jose Mourinho's side were woeful at Selhurst Park in the opening 45 minutes, going 1-0 down within the opening 10 minutes.Christian Benteke found Andros Townsend just outside the 18-yard box to fire past David de Gea, who was helpless as the ball struck the back of Victor Lindelof.Palace's opener should have served as a wake-up call to United, yet the Red Devils continued to give away possession cheaply and make simple mistakes.Mourinho's expression in the dugout said it all, with the Portuguese either staring blankly at the pitch or throwing his arms in the air in frustration.Going forward United were completely bereft of creativity, despite Mourinho giving Paul Pogba the freedom to roam in midfield.Pogba started in front of Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay but was simply unable to link up with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.If anything, the Frenchman's display showed exactly why he hasn't played much under Mourinho recently.
Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher dissected Pogba's performance in the Sky Sports studio at half-time, with the former speaking nothing but the truth.Neville reckons Pogba's biggest weakness is that everything seems like a joke to him and that he doesn't play with a serious enough attitude - and he's absolutely right."Pogba's weakness is like he's playing with his mates," said the former right-back. "It's like a YouTube or Instagram video.
"It's like a joke to him. It's no wonder Mourinho has left him out. He plays a Hollywood pass."
