Arsenal have started 2018 in terrible form and the pressure on Arsene Wenger's position is looking like it finally may reach breaking point.

Beaten 2-1 by Brighton on Sunday, the Gunners have now lost each of their last four games in all competitions.

The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust conducted a survey at Monday night's meeting about whether the club should cancel Wenger's contract at the end of the season.

A massive 88 per cent of AST members want the board to sack Wenger - and the results will be passed onto Ivan Gazidis this weekend.

Gary Neville believes the veteran Arsenal manager, who took over in 1996, should resign on his own terms at the end of the season.

"I think he [Wenger] will leave at the end of the season," Neville said on Sky Sports. "The problem is, the results in the last week, or last few weeks, have been terrible since the turn of the year.

"They’ve really brought that pressure on and the banners have appeared, the marches will soon appear.

"So I do think he will leave at the end of the season but for me I would always feel more comfortable with it being on his own terms."

What Wenger told the Arsenal coaching staff about his future

According to The Times, the 68-year-old French coach has told the Arsenal coaching staff about what his plans are going forward.

The Times Deputy Football Correspondent Matt Hughes writes: "Arsène Wenger believes that he is the best man to take Arsenal forward and has told his coaching staff that the club will have to sack him to bring an end to his 22-year tenure."

That sounds like a man who has no intention of stepping down.

Wenger has lost the support of key directors but reportedly believes that his relationship with majority shareholder Stan Kroenke could spare him the sack.

“At the moment, my future is not my main worry," said Wenger after the Brighton defeat. “My worry is to get Arsenal winning football games. Then we'll see where we go from there."
