Tyson Fury is well and truly on the comeback trail after his first sparring session in over a year.

The self-proclaimed "Gypsy King" is edging closer to his long-awaited return after he took on undefeated Australian heavyweight Lucas Browne in a session at Ricky Hatton's gym in Manchester.

Browne is preparing for a bout with Dillian Whyte and Fury was more than happy to help the Australian prepare as he himself slowly makes his way back to fitness as he looks to reignite his career.

Fury last stepped between the ropes when he spectacularly beat Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf way back in November 2015.

Since then Fury has struggled with drugs and depression surrendering all of his WBO, WBA and IBF belts that he won on that epic night in Germany.

However, it looks as though the 29-year-old has finally got his act together again after he shared a snap with Browne thanking him for the session having earlier shared a video on Instagram updating fans on his fitness progress.

In that same video, Fury teased fans by saying that a "massive, massive deal could be announced anytime now" with the former unified world champion set to contest multiple fights this year.

"Just in the gym, feeling good. Just done a massive weight circuit, look at these arms, they are getting there," Fury said in an Instagram video before his spar with Browne.

"Just going to have some food now and make my way over to Manchester, going to do a bit of sparring with Lucas 'Big Daddy' Browne, looking forward to it, first spar back in over a year, it's going to be fantastic.

"Training is going well, should have some big updates for you over the next day or so, I know I have been teasing you in for a while but it's really happening man, it's really going to work, apart from that, god bless everybody and see you all on the other side."

Many fans will be desperate for Fury to one day take to the ring with Anthony Joshua in what could be one of the biggest fight of a generation.

However, despite Fury calling Joshua out on several occasions, there may still be quite a long way to go before that dream can become a reality.

Still, it will be great to see Fury back in the ring doing what he does best.
