WWE could be bringing back a former talent based on a recent report that surfaced online on Tuesday morning.

PWinsider.com is reporting that former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio was at WWE headquarters last Wednesday in Stamford, CT to film an interview for an upcoming WWE project related to Rey Mysterio, who is reportedly slated to return to the company in the near future.

He now goes by the name Alberto El Patron and is current in Impact Wrestling.

Del Rio is a former multiple time World Champion and has had great feuds against the likes of John Cena, Edge, Christian, and many more. He has had a few different runs with the company, however, his first came to an end back in August of 2014.

If you recall, the reason for his departure then due to a WWE employee allegedly made some racist remarks towards Del Rio backstage, and "Mexico's Greatest Export" responded by striking that employee with a slap. There as a huge deal made about the entire incident backstage.

Del Rio made a surprise return to the WWE at Hell in a Cell on October 25, 2015. However, it didn’t last. On September 9, 2016, WWE officially announced that they had come to terms with his release from the sports entertainment company.

Some wrestling fans might not know, but in May 2016, Paige and fellow wrestler José Rodríguez, better known as Alberto Del Rio, went public with their relationship. The two became engaged in October 2016, but split in late 2017.

During this time, Del Rio was very outspoken about his time with the WWE and its COO Triple H. He ripped “The Game” several times but now he wants to make up with the sports entertainment company.

During the time that he was at the sports entertainment company’s headquarters, he reportedly met with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, which has led to speculation about him potentially returning to the WWE.

If you recall, there have been some rumblings as of late that McMahon might be interested in bringing him back. His deal with Impact Wrestling expires next month. However, he’s not done with Impact just yet as he is slated to defend challenge Austin Aries for the Impact Wrestling World Title in the main event of their upcoming pay-per-view event.

Impact Wrestling will hold their Redemption pay-per-view event event on April 22nd, 2018 in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios. The event will air on traditional PPV outlets and the FITE TV app.
