Timo Werner has quickly become one of the most in-demand Bundesliga players since making his move to RB Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016.

Werner's goal record never quite reached the expected level for Die Roten but East Germany has proven to be the making of the 22-year-old as he bagged 21 league goals in his debut season.

His form inevitably led to a national team call-up in March 2017 and Werner has again shown his ability to step up a level with his 7 goals in just 10 caps.

Those performances have led to inevitable speculation over a move away from Leipzig to a more established side.

Some of the very biggest clubs being linked - Barcelona, Real Madrid, and, of course, Bayern Munich are reportedly showing interest.

With clubs desperately trying to grab hold of the next-generation of talent, Europe's elite will always be interested in someone like Werner, no matter the price.

What might hold those three back, however, is the German's supposed desire for the Premier League.

And an interview featured in the latest edition of FourFourTwo sees Werner admit as much - although he's not planning on a move just yet.

“Yes, playing in the Premier League is a dream for me," said Werner. "I would like to play for two or three clubs, and Manchester United are one of those clubs.

"But probably not in the next few years – later, when my English is a little bit better! I’m very comfortable at RB Leipzig, though."

But it turns out that United aren't the only team that Werner is a fan of:

“Manchester United and Liverpool were the teams I watched quite a lot in England," he explained. "They were the two that I’m a little bit a fan of, because they have so much history.

"When Alex Ferguson was the coach, United won everything and were outstanding.

“In Liverpool it’s also their stadium and the atmosphere.”

Most fans don't have to be forced into choosing a side between the two great rivals - though most people don't profess to be fans of both - but Werner was able to say who his ideal team would be.

"When I have to decide, I’m more Manchester United than Liverpool.

“I'm now at a point where at some stage in the future I'd like to play in a team that wins titles.”

With the way things are going, Werner may have to consider a different Manchester club if that's his goal.
