The Miz reacts as Ric Flair calls him the best heel in wrestling today

When The Miz made his full main roster debut back in 2006, nobody would have thought that the former reality TV star would end up as one of the most consistently entertaining and talented stars the WWE would rely on.

On paper, The Miz is someone who was never really supposed to make it. However, he’s broken down door after door by continually improving in every aspect possible. So, it comes as no surprise that he’s currently in his eighth reign as Intercontinental Champion.

He’s not somebody who was thrust right to the top either. Instead, the doubts surrounding him and his potential saw him move up the ladder at a slow pace, ranging from the tag team scene to the mid-card, before realising his dream and becoming WWE Champion and even defeating John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania 27.

While he might not be holding one of the two biggest prizes in the company, he’s still someone who can make a ‘mid-card’ title like the Intercontinental Championship seem so relevant - that’s how naturally talented he is and that’s why two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair has called The Miz the best heel in pro wrestling today.

Speaking to WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, The Miz reacted to that bold statement from the Nature Boy and understandably, he was delighted.

According to Wrestling Inc, he said: “Ha! Is that what he said? Coming from him that’s an honour.

“Ric Flair - in my opinion - is the greatest of all time. I mean he is absolutely incredible, I mean, he gave me his figure four. How can I say a bad thing about him? You know what I mean?

“He’s just an incredible human being and incredible in-ring performer. And still, his legend lives on, no matter if he’s in the ring or outside the ring, people still do ‘The Strut’, give the ‘Woo!’ It’s amazing.”

Hearing that sort of praise is probably one of the many reasons why The Miz continues to show why he’s one of the best, most underrated and underappreciated stars the company has in its books today. When this level of talent isn’t around and there’s not anyone to suitable fill the gap, it will become much clearer how gifted he is and many fans will wholeheartedly agree with Flair’s praise.

At the same time, Flair wouldn’t just give his legendary Figure Four Leg Lock to just any ordinary star either.

For now, The Miz has to take this level of feedback on board and make sure that he heads to WrestleMania 34 next month to put on an incredible showing alongside Seth Rollins and Finn Balor in their triple threat match as he looks to achieve another accolade by overtaking Pedro Morales’ Intercontinental Championship record.
