On Wednesday, the Seattle Seahawks took a step towards making their defense look vastly different in the 2018 season by trading away Michael Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles, ending his second stint with the franchise after five seasons. The Seahawks sent Bennett and a seventh round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft yesterday to the current Super Bowl Champions in exchange for wide receiver Marcus Johnson and a fifth round draft pick. The trade will be officially completed on March 14.However, more teams than just the Eagles were interested in trading for the defensive end, as according to Dianna Russini of ESPN, the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were just a few of several teams looking to trade for Bennett. In fact, according to Jackson Felts, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport explained to a Seattle radio station earlier Wednesday that the Patriots had offered the Seahawks a third-rounder and a fifth-rounder for the three-time Pro Bowler, which is more than what the Eagles offered. The reason why Seattle chose Philadelphia's offer and not New England's despite it being more valuable was due to the fact that the two franchises had already verbally agreed on their deal, and the Seahawks didn't want to go back on their word.As for the other teams mentioned above, not much has been said on the offers from the Browns and Bucs, but the Falcons reportedly submitted a trade offer for Bennett, which would have seen him reunite with Dan Quinn who was the defensive coordinator during their Super Bowl XLVIII win. However, according to The Score, they were only prepared to part with a late-round pick.Moving forward with the Eagles, their defensive which helped win Super Bowl LII now gets even scarier, as himself and Fletcher Cox will likely line up inside on passing downs, with Brandon Graham and Derek Barnett coming off the edges. With Timmy Jernigan and Chris Long in the selection mix too, this likely spells the end for Vinny Curry in Philly.

Bennett sent out a thank you to the Seahawks, his teammate, and his fans in an Instagram post Wednesday afternoon:

"You fans are world class. The way you support us players on and off the field, helping to build bridges across our communities and understand what it means to give back and be community-minded. I am forever grateful for allowing me to grow and evolve in this time that I've had with you."
