Russell Slade has been named Leyton Orient manager on a permanent basis.

The 49-year-old, who took over the east London club on a short-term deal in April and successfully guided them clear of relegation, has been rewarded with a two-year contract at Brisbane Road.

"Having achieved that short-term aim of staying in League One, we can now move onto longer-term objectives and there are lots of things involved in that," the former Brighton and Yeovil boss told

"I believe anything is achievable. You just have to look at the likes of what I did at Yeovil and what Blackpool have done this season to see that."

He added: "It is possible and hopefully we can build the right type of squad, the right type of player at the football club, that can take us to places like Wembley."

Orient chairman Barry Hearn added: "Russ has injected a great deal of enthusiasm and energy in to the club over the last month and that's been great to see.

"We're busy planning for the new campaign, we'll be active in the transfer market and I'm already excited about August 7 coming round."
