Manchester United v Liverpool - it doesn't get any bigger than that in the Premier League.

No matter where the respective sides are in the league, their gargantuan followings and trophy cabinets always make it a date worth saving. And the intriguing match-up of Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp for second place promises to make it another classic.

There has been no shortage of United-Liverpool classics at Old Trafford in recent years, either, and one that always stands out came on September 19, 2010.

On his way to the Golden Boot that season, Dimitar Berbatov scored a brilliant hat-trick including a stunning bicycle kick for his second. Steven Gerrard played his part, too, scoring twice to equalise at 2-2 before the Reds Devils nicked a winner.

It was a spirited performance from Liverpool and one of the finest showings of the Roy Hodgson era which continues to mark a low point in the club's recent history.

So, it's perhaps easy to forget how shady Liverpool's starting XI actually was that day and particularly their midfield. Without Gerrard and Fernando Torres making up the numbers, the scoreline might not have been so close.

Take a look at the team below and where their careers have taken them in the proceeding seven-and-a-half years:

GK | Pepe Reina

A promising start, we're sure you'll agree. Reina was a true servant to Liverpool across nine years at the club before permanently departing to spend a season with Bayern Munich and eventually moving to Napoli in 2015.

LB | Paul Konchesky

Well then. Konchesky was part of a long line of failed Hodgson signings and he was, unsurprisingly, sold on as soon as Kenny Dalgish got the chance. Has spent time with Nottingham Forest, Leicester City, QPR, Gillingham and Billericay Town since.

CB | Jamie Carragher

A certified club legend but not one of his finest days at the office. Carragher would eventually retire in 2013 before trying his hand at punditry with Sky Sports working alongside Gary Neville.

CB | Martin Skrtel

Something of a fan's favourite at the club and with good reason, Skrtel sported the famous red jersey for eight years before moving to Fenerbache where he continues to reside.

RB | Glen Johnson

Not a bad defence, hey? Johnson was both Liverpool and England's number one choice at right-back at the time but moved to Stoke City, for whom he still plays, when game-time dried up in 2015.

LM | Joe Cole

It took Cole just 45 minutes of his first Premier League game for Liverpool before he picked up a red card and that pretty much summed up his time with the club. Justly offloaded in 2013 and now plays for the Tampa Bay Rowdies, via West Ham, Aston Villa and Coventry City.

CM | Christian Poulsen

That's right, Poulsen managed to get a game against Manchester United. Arguably Hodgson's very worst signing, the Dane left in the summer of 2011 to spend time with Evian, Ajax and Copenhagen before retiring in 2015.

CM | Raul Meireles

Perhaps underrated during his time with Liverpool but never truly set the world alight at Anfield. He bizarrely moved to Chelsea the following season - where he bagged the Champions League - before securing a Fenerbahce switch.

RM | Maxi Rodriguez

Rodriguez won over the admiration of many Kopites during his three seasons on Merseyside, yet never strung together a consistent run of form. Has played for Newell's Old Boys and Peñarol since his 2012 departure.

CAM | Steven Gerrard

This is more like it. Arguably the greatest player to turn out for Liverpool, Gerrard was the away side's best player on the day with two goals and didn't leave until 2015 - retiring after a brief spell with LA Galaxy.

ST | Fernando Torres

Something just wasn't right with Torres during the 2010-11 campaign and he certainly didn't give Nemanja Vidic the nightmares he used to. Embarked on a woeful spell with Chelsea in the January of that season and now resides with his beloved Atletico Madrid.

First Sub: David Ngog

Miraculously handed 38 appearances in 2010-11, Ngog can now be found with Ross County after a journeymen's career with Bolton Wanderers, Swansea City, Reims and Panionios F.C.

Second Sub: Milan Jovanovic

Hodgson was sucked in by his performances at the 2010 World Cup and lived to regret it. Even by September his game-time was dwindling and he retired in 2013 after two years with Anderlecht.

Third Sub: Daniel Agger

Another cult hero at Anfield and a solid asset at centre-back across eight years at the club and is now enjoying retirement after a homecoming at Brondby.
