The PGA European Tour is making its annual stop in New Dehli for the Hero Indian Open, and already we got close calls and epic shots.
Both were the case with Tour veteran Marc Warren, who fired a shot on the eighth that barely got past a cameraman and his own caddy.
Warren, in seventh at the time, was taking his second shot on hole eight, and he flat out launches the ball on the drive.
The cameraman got a shot he’ll never forget, because had the shot been a few inches to the left, the result could have been an injury, and a serious one at that.
Same could be said for Warren’s caddy, who also just barely missed the torpedo in the form of a golf ball, nearly getting hit in the head.
Warren was initially seen chuckling about the close call with both men as the ball landed further down on the green.
This resulted in an exchange where Warren was making a gesture about the ball barely getting past both the cameraman and his caddy, and then having a laugh.
You can watch the shot in the footage below, with some of the angles showing just how close the cameraman actually was to the shot.
And if it didn’t look bad enough in GIF format, here is a video of the close call.
The Scotsman managed to get par on the same hole, and finished his day with no additional near misses. A relief for anyone wielding a camera or a bag of golf clubs.
He did fall in rank, however, as he is now in a six-way tie for 9th place, so he will look to recover and climb up the leaderboard as the Indian Open continues.
Let’s hope there won’t be another near miss along the way.
