Since the conclusion of the WWE Fastlane event, SmackDown LIVE commissioner Shane McMahon had been hyping up a major WrestleMania 34 announcement that he was planning on making.Upon hearing this, many fans thought that it could have revolved around Shane O’Mac’s match at the Grandest Stage of Them All, or that an angle could kick off with rumours suggesting that Dolph Ziggler could emerge as a shock opponent.A match has been announced for New Orleans next month, however, it’s not one that features Shane - not yet anyway.

WRESTLEMANIA 34

The first announcement Shane made was that general manager Daniel Bryan would be making his return next week. The next announcement, which came as a slight surprise, was that he’s now going to be taking an indefinite hiatus from SmackDown LIVE as commissioner.

However, it does seem like this might mean he might not be around as commissioner, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be competing at the Grandest Stage of Them All, especially since Vince McMahon believes Shane is a genuine draw.

The major WrestleMania 34 announcement Shane made was that Sami Zayn would battle Kevin Owens in a one on one match inside of the Superdome on April 8.

While fans did think this was the end result of Sami’s storyline where he turned heel, some of the things that have unfolded on television and the rumours that have been circulating online made it seem like Owens and Zayn wouldn’t be competing against one another.

ATTACK

The first was the speculation that both Zayn and Owens would be placed in the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal instead. The other assumption was that the whole storyline has featured Shane, so any match with Owens and Zayn would feature Shane in some capacity.

Although the match has been announced, there’s still a feeling that a major change could be coming. This is because one Shane made the blockbuster announcement, both Owens and Zayn attacked Shane once more, with WWE.com revealing that he has sustained some injuries.

Unless this is to write Shane off television and he won’t be at WrestleMania, it still seems as if - based on the attack on SmackDown LIVE - that Shane will still play a role in this feud between Owens and Zayn.

Even if the singles match does go ahead, WrestleMania 34 is the best platform for both men to finally bring their long-standing rivalry to a natural conclusion. Plus, this is an event where their rivalry deserves to finish after the incredible work they have been doing.
