QPR manager Neil Warnock has signed his second striker of the summer by landing Leon Clarke from Sheffield Wednesday.

The 25-year-old is out of contract at Hillsborough following Wednesday's relegation to League One and has agreed a two-year deal.

"He's a player I've been interested in for a very long while," said Warnock. "I've always liked the look of him, and I tried to sign him earlier this year when I was at Palace."

Warnock continued: "I think he's got a lot of ability, but I think he's underachieved. I rate him very highly though. Some people will be surprised at this signing, but he's a player I've fancied for a very long while and I'm delighted we've got him on board."

Clarke, who had a brief loan spell at Loftus Road four years ago, scored in the Owls' final-day relegation decider against Crystal Palace but then injured himself celebrating by kicking an advertising hoarding.
