Rey Mysterio made his return to WWE TV this past January as a late surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match.

Although he didn't win the match he still had a huge presence in the bout and WWE fans went absolutely nuts for him. WWE recognized this and decided to start negotiations to bring the masked warrior back to the company.

Mysterio recently suffered an injury at a Northeast Wrestling indy show, however, and many speculated that this could have impacted his deal with WWE. He is expected to miss up to a month of in-ring action.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio recently discussed Mysterio's current negotiation status with WWE after his injury. Mysteiro recently joined a Nashville-based wrestling promotion by the name of Aro Lucha.

Many fans speculated this could indicate his negotiations with WWE have come to an end. Meltzer said this is not true and Mysterio joining Aro Lucha has been way 'overblown' (quotes via Ringside News):

"That story is very overblown. There really isn't a story. He's going to be working the Aro Lucha tapings. Look, crowd funding and I read that and it's like, "uhhh."

He then confirmed that negotiations between Mysterio and WWE are still ongoing and also said Mysterio is not an owner of Aro Lucha like some reports have been claiming:

"He's still in negotiations with WWE. I can tell you that factually right now. He's in negotiations with WWE. He will be working Aro Lucha.

"I think he's pretty much committed to working Aro Lucha tapings. He may stay with them. He may end up with ownership. He's not an owner of the company right now.

"The idea of this, a lot of people look at this and go, "oh he's not going to WWE." He may not, but he's absolutely in talks with them right now.

"Whatever the story is that broke today, that does not change that story."

What are your thoughts on Mysterio still negotiating with WWE for a potential return to the company?
