The Hardy Boyz shocked WWE fans when they returned at WrestleMania 33 last year.

That night, Matt and Jeff were the surprise entrants in a ladder match for the Raw tag-team titles and won, to the delight of the WWE Universe.

But a lot has happened in a year. They held the titles for two months before losing to Sheamus and Cesaro at Extreme Rules.

In September, their run as a tag-team was ended as Jeff suffered from a torn rotator cuff that was expected to keep him out of action for four to six months.

If that timeline was accurate, he could return any day now - and that would be just in time for WrestleMania.

WWE have been very quiet on his status, but PW Insider gave an update on Jeff Hardy's injury this week.

According to the website, Hardy was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, on Monday, working out in the ring to prepare for his return to the company's storylines.

That news will no doubt excite fans, but it's unclear exactly where Jeff would fit into current WrestleMania storylines.

Matt has had a successful singles run since his brother was injured back in September.

The "Woken" gimmick - a variation of his TNA "Broken" gimmick has returned and "Woken Matt" has been feuding with Bray Wyatt for a number of months.

However, that feud is expected to end - possibly as soon as this Monday, when the pair face-off at the Hardy compound in an Ultimate Deletion match.

Should that happen, it could open the door for Jeff to return and for The Hardy Boyz to reunite.

Although, it's unlikely that the pair could chase the tag-team titles at WrestleMania - as Sheamus and Cesaro are already putting them on the line on April 8.

At the moment, The Bar are scheduled to face Braun Strowman after he won a tag-team Battle Royal to become the new number one contender.

It's been confirmed that he'll be able to challenge for the titles at "the Show of Shows", but only if he is able to find a partner.

If Strowman can't find someone to pair with for the WrestleMania match, it would certainly open a door for The Hardy Boyz to return.

But if there's any chance of that happening, Jeff needs to return to TV quickly and show he's still got it after a long injury layoff.
