Lennox Lewis has called massive television network Showtime out and accused them of trying to write him out of the history books in a remarkable series of tweets.Showtime has been broadcasting the world's biggest fights for decades and Lewis believes that the American network is trying to claim that he, along with other former boxers, were not undisputed champions of their era.In a long series of tweets, Lewis went into great detail as he attempted to get his point across. The 6ft 5 giant took to Twitter to express his disappointment in Showtime’s claim that there hasn’t been a hasn’t been an undisputed champion ‘since Mike Tyson in 1999.’“So apparently Showtime Boxing thinks they can rewrite history, by writing champions like myself, [Riddick] Bowe, [Buster] Douglas and [Evander] Holyfield out of it, by saying there hasn’t been an undisputed champion since Mike Tyson in 1999. I personally recall facing Holyfield for that honour TWICE,” Lewis began.“As a fighter, being the undisputed champion was my ONLY goal. Fight the best to be the best. That was the legacy I fought my whole career for. So don’t think I’ll take it lightly when Showtime Boxing tries to take that away from me or anyone else who deserves that honour!”He then went on to accuse the network of having ‘some kind of agenda’ as the Twitter rant continued.“And for Showtime Boxing to try to defend their error instead of admitting ur mistake, only goes to show the lack of knowledge and willingness to do their homework. It’s almost as if there is some other agenda going on here.“Showtime Boxing the WBO belt was not a major or coveted belt in my days. I could have lifted it from John Ruiz had i ever believed that my status as an undisputed champion would ever be called into question. If ppl covet that belt in 2018, so be it... but not in my day!”He finished by saying that all the ‘mickey mouse’ belts from his era made it almost impossible to own all of the fringe belts there were available.“Showtime Boxing The politricks of my era and the amount of Mickey Mouse belts made it difficult to impossible to own every single fringe belt there was at the time, so I only focused on fighting the best of the best and collecting the major belts of the time.”

Interesting stuff.

Lewis tagged the network in each and every Tweet and seemed very intent on making sure that his points were seen.

Whether or not Showtime take notice and sympathise with Lewis, is yet to be seen.
