The heavyweight division is in a rather interesting position at the moment, and Mark Hunt wants in on the championship title conversation.

Currently the division is ran by Stipe Miocic, who has been absolutely destroying his competition since defeating Fabricio Werdum to win the strap. He has successfully defended the title three times, the most in UFC history, statistically making him the greatest heavyweight of all time.

He is now set to defend his title against UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, who is stepping up in weight in attempt to become the second dual-weight champion in UFC history.

Hunt comes off of a unanimous decision loss to young up-and-comer Curtis Blaydes. With two fights left on his UFC deal, the "Super Samoan" is looking to make a splash in the division with his last two fights.

He recently called out feared knockout artist Francis Ngannou and Alexander Volkov, who comes off of an impressive knockout win over former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“We’re looking to see if I can get Ngannou for August in Hawaii – that’d be great,” Hunt told Sporting News recently.

“Ngannou would be good for me, or [Alexander] Volkov, who just beat Fabricio – if he’s still available.

“I’m just trying to get someone higher than me. I’ve got two fights left, so I’m seeing if I can get Ngannou.

"I don’t know if they’ve confirmed Hawaii, but it’d be a great match… see who shoots for the takedown first.

“I fought a guy that was beneath me last time, so I want someone higher now,” Hunt said. “Even Werdum, I want that rematch, but Ngannou would be a better match. Even give me Blaydes again and I’ll have another shot at him.”

What are your thoughts on Hunt calling out either Ngannou or Volkov for his next fight inside the Octagon? How do you feel Hunt matches up with either one of those men if they were to throw down inside the cage? And which fight makes more sense for the UFC to book next in terms of the heavyweight rankings? Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
