The professional wrestling world is rejoicing as former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan has been cleared to return to in-ring action for the company.

Bryan has suffered from a string of concussion-related injuries for the past several years and WWE medically suspended him from being eligible to return to in-ring action.

He was forced to retire from the ring a few years ago and has served as the General Manager of SmackDown Live since the brand split.

Bryan returned to physical action this past Tuesday when he fired Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens for their vicious assault on SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon on last week's show. Owens and Zayn viciously beat down Bryan as a result.

The SmackDown GM was carted off on a stretcher as a result of the attack. It's expected that he will team up with Shane McMahon at WrestleMania to take on Owens and Zayn in a Tag Team match. There has also been reports suggesting a No Disqualification stipulation could be added to the bout.

Had Bryan not been cleared by WWE to return the company had several backup plans for the match involving Shane, Owens, and Zayn.

One idea had McMahon teaming with a different partner. The other had the bout being a Triple Threat with Bryan serving as the Special Guest Referee.

In the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that there was an agreement Bryan had to come to with WWE to get cleared.

After every match Bryan participates in going forward, he will need to undergo Impact testing and a neuropsychological evaluation by WWE doctors until they feel he is okay. It should be interesting to see how Bryan does inside the ring when he returns at WrestleMania.

It should also be interesting to see also how often Bryan wrestles on WWE TV. He recently said on an appearance on the E&C's Pod Of Awesomeness that he might not be too interested in wrestling a full-time schedule (quotes via Wrestling Inc.):

"There's no reason why I can't return to doing what I love [wrestling]," Bryan said.

"It may never be full-time and it may never be this idea of 'I'm going to go in and be the guy who main events every live event and stuff.

"I'm not even sure I want that. Now that I have a child, I don't want to be away from her that much.

"But to say that I can't wrestle say 50 to 100 matches a year or to say that I can't do Jerry Lawler and Terry Funk are still doing in their 60s.

"I also want to give the caveat of this: if at any point along with all of this if somebody said there's a real indication that I should not be wrestling, I don't want to wrestle.

"My health is 100% more important than coming back to wrestling.

"Being a good father is more important than going out there and expounding on my belief that doing more hammerlocks in wrestling is good for the business!"
