Back in the early stages of March, the footballing world watched on as Arsenal and Arsene Wenger went through their worst period as a duo.

The Gunners' 2-1 loss to Brighton was their third on the trot in the Premier League, with a 3-0 Carabao Cup final loss to high-flying Manchester City sandwiched in between.

However, Wenger and the squad managed to get themselves some serious respite from criticism in the Europa League, beating AC Milan home and away, recording a 5-1 aggregate win.

Their 2-0 win at the San Siro was a brilliant performance all round, while they also saw off Watford 3-0 in the league.

Nevertheless, fans still want change, but Wenger seems adamant he will be at the Emirates to see out his contract, which runs until 2019.

However, it appears Arsenal may finally have found his replacement and it will certainly bring with it some serious optimism.

German publication Kicker are reporting that former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has agreed to take over, with Sven Mislintat apparently giving his seal of approval for the best interests of the club.

It would be a big step for Arsenal, an exciting young manager with a similar philosophy to Wenger.

Tuchel may have left Dortmund on rather sour terms, but he's well respected as a manager, guiding the German side to the DFB Pokal cup in his final season, knocking out Bayern Munich in the semi-final.

Sky Germany are also reporting the deal, but they do speculate whether Tuchel's deal will come into place one Wenger see's out his contract.

When it does, his profile could be perfect for the north London club, while also handing him an opportunity to work with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan once again.

Not to mention having Mesut Ozil under his guidance, a player seen in a much more positive light by German football lovers than most Premier League fans.
