Anthony Davis has been thriving for the New Orleans Pelicans despite the adversity bestowed upon them through injuries and bad luck. He demonstrated this during his team's loss to the Houston Rockets yesterday with a fantastic posterization of Clint Capela. The Pelicans lost to the Rockets 114-91 at the Toyota Center in Houston on Saturday, as they were unable to contain James Harden finished the night with 27 points, six rebounds, eight assists, a steal, a block, and was 11-of-24 from the field.Davis had a pretty good night for New Orleans too despite the defeat, as he finished with 25 points, eight rebounds, an assist, two steals, four blocks, and he was 10-of-22 from the field. He sat out the fourth quarter as well when the game was out of reach. Even one of the Rockets' star defenders in Capela couldn't contain him.Close to the two-minute mark of the second quarter, Davis had a shot which was blocked by the Rockets' big man. However, as you can see in the video below, the Pelicans star got the offensive rebound and this time slammed it home with authority, posterizing Capela in the process.

Apart from this moment, Capela had a good game for Houston, but he will think twice now when it comes to how he defends against Davis. The New Orleans star is close to playing on the same level as Harden this season and could pip him to the MVP award depending on how the remaining games go in the season.

In the end, the Rockets were simply the better team on the night inside the Toyota Center, and they've been tough for many teams to stop all season long. New Orleans must be thinking they could have put up a better fight if they had Rajon Rondo on the court, who missed the game with a sprained right wrist.

While the Rockets sit comfortably at the top of the Western Conference, the loss puts the Pelicans in danger of falling out of the playoff spots. While they're currently in sixth place, they're only 3.5 games ahead of the Denver Nuggets in ninth place.

The Pelicans has another tough contest ahead of them as well, as they host the Portland Trail Blazers in their next game back in New Orleans on Tuesday night.
