Arsenal fans have never quite forgiven Cesc Fabregas for joining London rivals Chelsea from Barcelona in 2014.

When it became clear the Spaniard didn't have a future at Barca, Gooners were desperate for Arsene Wenger to bring him back to the Emirates Stadium.

But a move never materialised, with Fabregas instead moving to Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho in a deal worth £30 million.

Not that Fabregas really had a choice. Speaking last year on why he didn't return, the 30-year-old insisted it was Arsenal's decision, not his, to reunite.

"Once I made the decision to leave Barca, Arsenal had the first option and Barcelona had the obligation to contact Arsenal first," said Fabregas.

"The week passed, Arsenal never responded, never contacted me either, so I took it as them having enough players in their squad, so I made my move to Chelsea.

"I feel very attached, even now, to Arsenal. My feelings for the club, well I don't have to repeat myself, every single time we play against them, because it's known.

"I love Arsene, the man. I love him of course as a coach too. This is a decision he made. I always said that he's like a father to me, and he always will be."

There will be no fairytale reunion between Fabregas and Arsenal, then - at least not until he's retired from professional football anyway.

Fabregas hosted a Q&A session with his Twitter followers on Sunday afternoon and one of the questions he was asked was: "Would you return to Arsenal as a coach in the future?"

A safe answer would have been that anything can happen, but the Spain international didn't beat around the bush with his response (see below).

Fabregas honestly replied: "Of course," which excited Arsenal fans but appeared to annoy some Chelsea supporters.
