While some of Barcelona's signings in recent years haven't been great, from Andre Gomes to Denis Suarez, that simply cannot be said for Samuel Umtiti.Since joining the Spanish club from Lyon in June 2016, Umtiti has racked up 76 appearances and developed into one of the most dominant defenders in Europe. In addition to establishing himself as Gerard Pique's first-choice central defensive partner, he is also set to star at the 2018 World Cup alongside Real Madrid's Raphael Varane. At 24, Umtiti could be at the heart of Barca's defence for the foreseeable future, but what he did during a TV game on Sunday morning will certainly raise concerns amongst Blaugrana fans.

Umtiti joins Giroud on French TV

Umtiti joined France international teammate Olivier Giroud on TF1's Telefoot programme, where he took part in a simple yet pretty informative questionnaire.

The centre-back was asked a serious of questions, and he was given the options of "yes", "no", or "joker" - the latter essentially being a way to not answer the question - to respond.

What Umtiti did on TV programme

As reported by Marca, Sport, and other news outlets, Umtiti used his "joker" option when the journalist asked him about his future plans and renewing his contract at Barcelona.

If that wasn't enough, the Frenchman, whose current contract runs out in 2021, produced the exact same response to the question: "Will you sign for Manchester United?"

To prove that Umtiti knew what he was saying, he confidently answered "yes" after being asked whether teammate Lionel Messi was better than Cristiano Ronaldo.

How much we can read into these interesting responses from Umtiti remains to be seen, but Barca are wary about his situation given what Paris Saint-Germain did with Neymar last summer.

They don't want buyout clauses to come back to bite them again, and Man United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly interested in Umtiti as a partner for Eric Bailly.

Umtiti ends the current international break on Tuesday when France play World Cup hosts Russia, after which he'll refocus on La Liga and Champions League matters with Barcelona.
