WWE set to introduce even more championships towards SummerSlam

Over the past few weeks, WWE has quietly been working behind the scenes to make some significant changes to programming with one of those being announced recently on NXT.

One night before WrestleMania 34 at the NXT TakeOver: New Orleans event, the inaugural NXT North American Champion will be crowned as Adam Cole, EC3, Killian Dain, Lars Sullivan, Ricochet and Velveteen Dream battle it out in a six-man ladder match.

This news was welcomed by fans as there had always been the feeling in NXT that those stars who aren’t quite ready for the NXT Championship should have something to compete for. This also helps create more meaningful feuds and can help propel stars to the next level.

The NXT North American Championship is already finished and in WWE’s hands. The belt apparently has a ‘classical’ look. I am trying to get more details.

“Also, the long rumoured WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships are in the works for a debut around SummerSlam.”

With the women now receiving so many opportunities for all of the hard work they continue to put in, fans are going to love the latest step WWE has taken to give even more importance to the division.

Considering just how many stars there are in the division, it makes sense to introduce more championships, rather than have them all chase the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champions.

Not only that, but introducing these titles - potentially on both shows like the male versions - means we’ll be able to see more teams being formed where there’s a genuine end goal in place for them and set them up for more chances of succeeding too, especially since there's a clear bridge between the mid-level stars and the elite women.

What do you make of WWE introducing tag team titles to the women’s division? Have YOUR say in the comments section below.
