On April 27th, WWE heads to Saudi Arabia for a very special pay-per-view.

Superstars from both Raw and Smackdown will be competing at “The Greatest Royal Rumble” event at the King Abdullah International Stadium.

The night will feature seven title matches as well as the Royal Rumble match - but this time, there’s a twist.

An incredible 50 wrestlers are going to take part in the match - something that has never been seen before in its 30-year history.

Normally, only 30 entrants take part in the rumble, but almost double will compete in the historic event.

As of today, four entrants have been confirmed. John Cena, AJ Styles, Triple H and Roman Reigns will all be participating in the match.

Interestingly, that wasn’t all WWE announced today. With just over one month until the event, the company announced three huge matches that will feature on the card alongside the rumble.

Those matches are:

Triple H v John Cena

Cesaro and Sheamus vs. The Hardy Boyz (for the Raw tag-team titles)

The Miz vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Bálor vs. Samoa Joe (for the Intercontinental championship).

WWE’s match announcement is interesting for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, the tag-team title match assumes that The Bar will still be champions after WrestleMania, despite having to defend their belts against Braun Strowman and whoever he chooses as a partner.

Of course, it’s possible that the participants in the match could change, but it’s still interesting WWE decided to announce this so soon.

Similarly, the ladder match suggests that all three men competing for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania (The Miz, Rollins and Balor), will still be in the hunt for it after The Show of Shows.

The fourth participant in that match also gives away the fact that Samoa Joe is close to a return - but the match announcement is contrary to rumours that he’s going to feud with Roman Reigns for the Universal title upon his return.

The HHH v Cena match doesn’t give too much away, but it’s a huge draw for fans - and is just a singles match, so is probably only on the card to boost ticket sales.

There’s still five more matches to be announced for the Greatest Royal Rumble PPV and judging by those already made, WWE are pulling out all the stops for their historic event in Saudi Arabia.
