Carl Froch has fuelled more talk of a showdown between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder in the future and believes that the American's recent performances are now starting to make the British WBA, IBA and IBF belts holder sweat.

Joshua, 28, takes on New Zealand's Joseph Parker in Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Saturday night in an attempt to add the WBO title to his growing title collection.

With Joshua a strong favourite for the fight, boxing fans and pundits alike are already plotting his next move in the ring. And with Joshua rubbishing talk of a clash with Tyson Fury, Wilder looks like a possible challenger within the next year or so.

Former boxer Froch has been keeping a close eye on Wilder's fights stateside and writing in his Sky Sports column, explains why Joshua will be doing the same.

"There is always pressure on Joshua but thanks to Deontay Wilder, there is even more this time around.

"A lot of people are asking questions. Is he coming over? When is he going to fight 'Josh' and if not, why not? All of a sudden, there is someone out there who is smashing people to bits and looking fantastic doing it."

Froch went on to explain that unlike Wladimir Klitschko, who had his chances to win against Joshua, Wilder doesn't relent when on top.

"Wilder is exciting. He has explosive power, he is awkward, he is dangerous and when he's got someone hurt he doesn't let them off the hook - unlike Wladimir Klitschko.

"Regardless of what he says and puts out there, Wilder is big and scary and trust me, when 'Josh' and Rob McCracken sit down and watch a Deontay Wilder fight, they will know - 100 per cent - that it is a very dangerous fight.

"There is a lot of heat on 'Josh'. I said I wanted Wilder to make him and Rob sweat a bit against Ortiz and he did just that. But now with the world watching him, another sold-out stadium all there to see him, against another world champion? The heat is definitely on.

"Everyone is expecting 'Josh' to beat Joseph Parker and he should because he's bigger and has more experience at top level. Of course Parker won't be straightforward but we all assume Joshua will beat him, but who's next other than Wilder?"

Only time will tell if Joshua chooses to go down that path after his bout with Parker, but if he does, it is sure to be a mouth-watering contest against the American, who is making his own headlines across the pond.
