John Wall hasn't played on the court for the Washington Wizards since January 25, but this past week, the point guard has been making progress in practice to change just that.

Last week, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks said that the All-Star point guard was getting close to making his return to the court, having participated in an entire practice for the first time since his arthroscopic debridement surgery on January 31.

While Brooks was unable to provide a date as to when Wall would be back on the court for Washington, the man himself told Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington that he feels great and he has also dropped a few pounds.

“I’ve been feeling great. I feel like I’ve shown what I have to do in practice. I’m going through all the protocols for things I have to do to clear what they want me to clear. But I have done mostly everything they have asked me to do so far.”

Wall also said he has lost 10 to 15 pounds since his knee surgery on January 31. This could actually be a good thing as it will put less pressure on the recently repaired knee. He said: “I’m in better shape and not overweight. I just feel better when I’m playing on the court.”

The Wizards would love to have Wall back in their lineup soon. They're not in any real danger of falling out of the playoffs, but they are in the middle of a three-game losing streak. It would be good for them to get a winning streak behind them so that they're entering the postseason in good form.

Overall though, due to the point guard's absence, Washington hasn't played as well as the talent on their team says they could, which is why Bradley Beal recently called out the squad saying they need to pick up their performances or they will pay for it. Getting Wall back on the court will certainly be a big help for the franchise to change their fortunes.

The Wizards have just managed to keep themselves in the playoff places since Wall has been out, going 14-10. They're in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, but their postseason fate isn't secured yet.

They're only 6.5 games ahead of the ninth-placed Detroit Pistons, so it would be great for Washington to get Wall back before the end of the season, and from the looks of things, he could be back on the court this week.

They definitely need him back for the playoffs though, as they're likely going to struggle against the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Toronto Raptors in the postseason without him on the court.

The point guard has averaged 19.4 points, 9.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds in 37 games this season.
