Heavyweight boxing is experiencing a huge renaissance right now, with Anthony Joshua at the forefront.

Even since the Watford-born fighter burst onto the scene after his achievements at the 2012 Olympics, the division as a whole appears to have stepped up a level.

There is simply a lot more interest than when the likes of Wladimir Klitschko were dominating the belts for prolonged spells.

Joshua'a 20-fight career has been followed by many and all boxing fans are eager to see how he gets on against Joseph Parker on Saturday, in what could be his toughest test to date.

Nevertheless, despite the fact that Parker is the WBO champion and is one of the men AJ needs to beat to unify the division, most people have their eyes on a different opponent for the Brit; Deontay Wilder.

The Bronze Bomber is widely regarded as the biggest threat to Joshua's unbeaten record, but as of yet, no plans have been made for the two to meet in the four-cornered ring.

And it is something that is bothering boxing legend Carl Froch, who says he is baffled by the way Joshua has disregarded Wilder.

"I don't really understand why 'Josh' just disregards him, he seems to be happy to keep him waiting. Wilder is the one. The one we want to see him in with and the fight he needs to win," Froch said to Sky Sports.

"There is always pressure on Joshua but thanks to Deontay Wilder, there is even more this time around. A lot of people are asking questions. Is he coming over? When is he going to fight 'Josh' and if not, why not? All of a sudden, there is someone out there who is smashing people to bits and looking fantastic doing it.

"Wilder is exciting. He has explosive power, he is awkward, he is dangerous and when he's got someone hurt he doesn't let them off the hook - unlike Wladimir Klitschko. Regardless of what he says and puts out there, Wilder is big and scary and trust me, when 'Josh' and Rob McCracken sit down and watch a Deontay Wilder fight, they will know - 100 percent - that it is a very dangerous fight."

It's a very valid point. AJ hasn't exactly been vocal on his desire to fight Wilder, but if he does beat Parker on Saturday, there is pretty much no other option for him to take. Well, unless Tyson Fury decides to finally get his act together.

Sky Sports Box Office will exclusive show the Anthony Joshua v Joseph Parker unification fight on 31 March.
