Being successful in the WWE takes more than just wrestling talent. Superstars can't just be all about performing well in the ring, they also need to master other aspects to become true legends. They also need to be able to cut good promos. On the current roster, the likes of John Cena, Kevin Owens and The Miz are perhaps the best at doing this. So many times, great wrestlers have been tripped up by their poor mic skills - that was part of the reason Roman Reigns struggled to get many fans on his side in the past. And talking of getting the fans onside - that's important too, especially when trying to make it as the face of the company. So, to make it in WWE, superstars need a good gimmick too. And over the years, there have been some brilliant ones. The likes of Goldust, Mankind, The Ultimate Warrior, Kane - and of course, The Undertaker, all spring to mind when thinking of the best ever. On the current roster, there are some good characters too. "Woken" Matt Hardy and his bizarre promos are loved by the WWE Universe - but it's not just always about the solo competitors. The New Day, who became WWE's longest running tag-team champions between 2015 and 2017, have been fan favourites for a number of years now. The energy, excitement and humour they bring to the ring is unmatched and the WWE Universe loves to see the trio of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods at every show. They've been doing it right since forming the stable in 2014 and Wrestling Observer Newsletter even ranked them as having the best gimmick in 2015.But their ideas have not always been a hit in the WWE. In fact, earlier today, Big E tweeted to reveal the fact that he pitched a different gimmick to the company when he was signed in 2009. And it was terrible. "Almost 9 years ago, when I got signed, my very first pitch was to be a wrestling postal worker named Mel Mann. Shockingly, it was shot down," he tweeted.

There's no surprise that the WWE turned down the idea of a wrestling postal worker - in fact, it's a shock that they didn't laugh Big E out of the building.

Thankfully though, he's formed part of one of the best stables the business has seen in the last decade - and The New Day's gimmick will surely be loved for years to come.
