When a new manager arrives, you can’t blame them for wanting to stamp their authority on their new team.

And when you’re becoming a permanent manager for the first time, that urge to make drastic changes must be hard to ignore.

Well, that appears to be the case as far as Ryan Giggs and Wales are concerned.

Giggs took control of his first two matches as permanent manager during the international break as Wales competed in the China Cup.

The Welsh side didn’t qualify for the World Cup in Russia and weren’t able to add minor silverware to their cabinet after losing 1-0 to Uruguay in the final - after beating China 6-0.

But Giggs’ aim will be to get this Welsh side to qualify for the European Championships in 2020. Qualification for that will start at the beginning of next season and Giggs is well aware that Gareth Bale will be key to qualification.

However, the Real Madrid star has struggled for injuries in recent years.

GIGGS HAS MADE A FEW RULES

But Giggs has made a few demands to ensure the 28-year-old is fully fit when it comes to international matches.

According to The Times, Giggs has told Bale to just drive one car from now on, ensuring his seat is custom made to suit him.

The report states: “Giggs advised Bale to use one car and make sure the seat, its height and specification are set up properly for his body.”

Giggs claims that when he changed cars whilst a player, he was told that different clutch pedals put extra stress on his left leg and “aggravated his hamstring.”

GIGGS IS DESPERATE TO GET BALE FULLY FIT

It sounds ridiculous but Giggs is willing to explore any avenue to ensure Bale is fully fit.

While Bale may not be too impressed with that rule, Giggs also banned him and other players from playing golf whilst in China.

Bale and his teammates had a round organised but Giggs cancelled after being “concerned that swinging clubs during their China Cup campaign could put a strain on Bale’s body and lead to a potential recurrence of one of the muscle injuries.”

Other rules that Giggs has implemented include banning baseball caps, insisting that everyone is smartly dressed and always early for team meetings and meals.

It seems Giggs wants to get his Welsh players into shape before the real hard work starts as they attempt to qualify for Euro 2020.
