It’s hard to talk about Anthony Joshua’s fight against Joseph Parker without mentioning Deontay Wilder.

The American is the WBC heavyweight champion and stands to face Joshua at some point in the near future.

Wilder was due in Cardiff to watch the bout but he has instead decided to stay at home, citing Joshua’s refusal to guarantee him entry into the ring after Saturday’s fight.

Wilder is also upset with Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn, calling him a “cry baby” in an interview on ThaBoxingVoice podcast.

“When you get a spoilt brat like him that’s been fed a silver spoon, when he don’t get what he wants he turns into a cry baby,” Wilder said.

“Hearn is like a car salesman. He’ll sell you a used car, take the mileage back and say it’s brand new.”

Hearn was asked about Wilder’s comments when he spoke to iFL TV and his response was utterly brilliant.

Hearn discusses Wilder's no-show

The promoter mocked Wilder by impersonating him in an interview that won’t go down well Stateside at all.

“It’s about all the media he can do these days, on ThaBoxingVoice,” Hearn said.

“Look at the undercard here. This is the undercard press conference, what do we have… 20 international TV cameras here.

“You imagine what would happen if Deontay Wilder was here right now. We were going to do a press conference here today with Deontay Wilder. Can you imagine the media coverage he would have got?

“What am I crying about? I feel sorry for him, that he has such ill-advice not to make sure that he comes to this event. I’m not crying, I’m very happy with my hw champion, I’m very happy with my life, I’m just trying to improve his.

“I’m just trying to make him a bigger star. I’m just trying to make him more money. This is what I do for a living.

“I make you a bigger star, I make you the bigger fights, so every now and then you just need to listen.

“There’s only one person crying.”

Then he mocked Wilder

It’s at this point in the interview that Hearn does a hilarious impression of Wilder.

“‘Oh, I can’t get in the ring, I’m not coming! Oh if I don’t get in the ring, I’m not coming!,’" he said.

“Who’s the cry baby now?

"The difference is, you can get in the ring, but we’re not scripting it. This is about Joshua and Parker. This is not about Deontay Wilder. The only focus is the fight, and after the fight if Joshua wants to invite you in the ring, which he would.

“It’s not about you, Deontay Wilder.”
