In the summer, Jurgen Klopp may well be on the lookout for another central midfielder. While Naby Keita will finally arrive from RB Leipzig, it’s looking more and more likely that Emre Can will leave the club on a free transfer. If that is the case, Liverpool will probably need another midfielder. They’ve been linked with Lazio’s Jorginho, Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucouré and Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi. However, Klopp might not actually need to sign a midfielder in the summer. Why?Because they could already have the answer.

GRUJIC IS SERIOUSLY IMPRESSING AT CARDIFF

Marko Grujic was Klopp’s first signing as Liverpool manager but the 21-year-old has been limited to just eight league appearances at Anfield.

There were doubts whether the Serbian had a future at the club as he was sent out on loan to promotion-chasing Cardiff in January.

How would the tough-tackling youngster cope in the Championship?

Well, very well indeed, it seems.

Grujic has played 10 times in the league for Cardiff with the The Bluebirds winning nine of those matches, drawing the other.

What’s more, he has a ‘WhoScored Rating’ of 7.40. In short, he’s been very good.

EMRE CAN'S SUCCESSOR?

And plenty of fans think he has a future at Liverpool, and could even succeed Can if he does leave.

It’s just as well Grujic is impressing at the Cardiff City Stadium, though. That’s because Cardiff boss Neil Warnock explained how the loan agreement means he has to play a certain amount of games.

It’s claimed that when he arrived, Grujic had to play in at least 14 of the remaining 19 league matches.

"I think we can be good for him. I think we can get him match-fit. There's a World Cup this summer, and he has ambitions to go to that. So if we can get him up and running, that will be great for both parties," Warnock said.

"We won't get punished if he gets injured and things like that. We've got 19 league games, and hopefully he'll play in all of them.

"A lot of clubs take players from the Premier League and don't play them. Well that's a waste of time. Same as me sending someone out, if they make up the numbers it's pointless.

"Jurgen really likes the lad, and he wants him to continue his education. And he just wants to come and play."
