Manchester City are now just one win away from winning the 2017-18 Premier League title after a classy 3-1 win at Everton on Saturday evening.Leroy Sane got things underway just four minutes in with a lovely volley, Gabriel Jesus added a second soon after and Raheem Sterling had the visitors 3-0 up before the interval.Yannick Bolasie pulled one back in the second half but it was a dominant display from City, who were simply levels above Sam Allardyce's team for much of the encounter.Wayne Rooney started alongside Morgan Schneiderlin in defensive midfield for Everton but he struggled to cope with the quality of Fernandinho, Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva. The Manchester United legend was taken off in the 57th-minute, but not before being humiliated by both Sane and De Bruyne within the space of a few seconds.

Sane & KDB embarrass Rooney

Around the half-hour mark at Goodison Park, Sane drove infield and appeared to have over-ran it before casually popping the ball through Rooney's legs - as you can see below.

If that wasn't enough, as England and Man Utd's all-time top scorer stretched to try and recover possession, De Bruyne decided to get in on the action.

After Sane's nutmeg, De Bruyne effortlessly flicked the ball over a clearly frustrated Rooney in the middle of the park to toy with the Englishman further.

Rooney chased shadows against stylish City

With the way in which City monopolise the ball, any opposition facing them needs midfielders full of running and energy, but aged 32, Rooney no longer provides much of that.

19-year-old Tom Davies came on in his place, but Sane and De Bruyne shone throughout the game and could be receiving some major individual accolades in the coming weeks.

Sane and De Bruyne to win awards?

Still only 22, dynamic winger is a leading candidate for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, having nine goals and 11 assists in the league so far this campaign.

Meanwhile, 26-year-old playmaker De Bruyne seems to be in a battle with Liverpool's goal machine Mohamed Salah to be crowned Premier League Player of the Year.

Man City now turn their attention to the huge Champions League clash at Anfield before having the chance to win the title by beating neighbours Man United on Saturday.
