Arsenal and Stoke have plenty of history. It all started after Ryan Shawcross’ terrible leg-breaking tackle on Aaron Ramsey back in 2010. Since then, clashes between the two sides have been a bit tasty.Stoke fans seem to relish getting one over the Gunners but they weren’t able to do that this afternoon. With the Potters desperately needing three points in their battle against relegation, they succumbed to a 3-0 loss at the Emirates.Stoke haven’t won away to Arsenal for 37 years and Arsene Wenger’s side made sure they maintained that record thanks to a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang brace and an Alexandre Lacazette penalty. While their record in north London is atrocious, Stoke did manage to beat Arsenal at the bet365 Stadium early in the season. And everyone associated with Stoke very much enjoyed that 2-1 win back in August - and that includes Stoke Police. After the victory, someone tweeted Stoke Police’s official Twitter account that they “would like to report a robbery.”

STOKE POLICE BANTERED OZIL BACK IN AUGUST

Their reply?

“Apologies for the delay in replying. We’ve been busy looking for a missing person, surname Ozil. Have you seen him? #Banter.”

Very, very cheeky.

But Ozil has got revenge.

After Arsenal’s 3-0 win, the German finally replied - and it was worth the wait.

.@Policingstoke didn‘t help in the case of robbery last summer so we took matters into our own hands. Proud to announce we earned three hard fought points today for @TheIwobiEffect and all the other gunners #Banter.”

Just superb.

Despite the win, though, Arsenal were far from fluid and the first-half of the match was pretty terrible.

And Wenger, rather honestly, admitted that’s probably because there is very little to play for in the league.

"It's the fact that in the table, when you look, there's not a lot to win. Especially as well, we play before a big game, so the mind is maybe not completely there," Wenger said.

"And the fact that the players broke up [for internationals] and got back together. The weight of these ingredients, I don't know.

"It was a game I feel mentally first half we were not in the pace of the game, we were a bit sloppy, lacked cohesion. We missed the basic ingredients that makes football great - to play with power and enthusiasm.

"Really to me, it was a lack of urgency, but in the second half, it was a lot better. In the first half, I always thought we could lose this game, but in the second half I always felt we could win this game."
