Barcelona came agonisingly close to suffering their first league defeat of the season on Saturday but managed to rescue a draw from the jaws of defeat thanks to a dramatic late comeback.Goals either side of half-time from Franco Vazquez and Luis Muriel had put Sevilla 2-0 up at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán - and then Lionel Messi entered the fray shortly afterwards. The mere presence of Messi, who wasn’t even 100 per cent fit, changed the whole complexion of the match.Luis Suarez pulled a goal back in the 88th minute and then Messi - who else? - sealed a point for his side with a superb left-footed strike from the edge of the box.Football’s magician had pulled yet another rabbit out the hat when his team needed him most."With or without Messi, any team would be different," Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde, who confirmed that Messi was still technically injured after the Sevilla match, told reporters. “He makes a difference every time he touches the ball."Thanks to Messi, Barça moved another step closer to sealing the title. The La Liga leaders currently find themselves nine points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid, who beat Deportivo on Sunday, with eight matches remaining.

What annoyed Barça fans about Suarez and Coutinho

While most Barça fans were understandably delighted after the late comeback, there was one thing in particular from the match which irritated a lot of the club’s supporters.

With Messi only fit enough to start the game from the subs’ bench, free-kicks were up for grabs.

Messi is Barça’s first-choice set-piece taker because, more often than not, he either scores or tests the goalkeeper. In fact, it could be argued that he’s the best free-kick taker in the world right now.

Philippe Coutinho, who Barcelona forked out £142 million for in January, is another contender for that title - and the Brazilian has presumably been waiting patiently for his chance to showcase his dead-ball talents since moving to Spain.

Fans voiced their anger on Twitter

However, in the first half against Sevilla it was Suarez, rather than Coutinho, who took the visitors’ free-kicks in Messi’s absence, much to the disbelief of the club’s fans on social media.

Here’s how they reacted…

Coutinho is one of the best free-kick takers around

Coutinho cemented his status as one of the world’s most dangerous free-kick takers at Liverpool, so it’s a genuine surprise that he isn’t currently second in line at the Camp Nou when Messi isn’t around.

Suarez, of course, is also capable of taking a mean free-kick and has been at Barcelona for longer than Coutinho.

But surely it would have benefitted Barça more if Coutinho was on free-kick duty at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán instead?
