There has been some chatter recently that the New York Football Giants could be considering trading their star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Reports suggested that New York would be seeking a first round pick and a little extra from teams interested in the OBJ sweepstakes.
That's a lot to ask for from an NFL team, not to mention that Beckham will be needing to restructure his contract with a massive extension for whatever team lands him.
With all that being said, a trade is highly unlikely considering all the baggage that would come with trading for the Giants wideout.
Giants co-owner John Mara recently said that he's tired of answering questions about Beckham's antics, and also noted nobody on the team's roster is safe from possible trades.
During rapper Quavo's celebrity flag football game in Lilburn, Georgia yesterday (Sun. April 1, 2018), Cincinnati Bengals' star wide receiver, AJ Green, sounded off on the potential of a Odell Beckham trade.
Green said that if New York actually decided to trade away their young star wideout, it would be a very 'stupid' decision (quotes via NFL.com):
"That's stupid. That's stupid, man," Green told NFL Network at rapper Quavo's celebrity flag football game in Lilburn, Georgia, on Sunday.
"It's a once-in-a-lifetime, or once-in-a-generation talent, man, and you've got to be ready. I think he'll get paid. They not that crazy."
Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Martavis Bryan also commented on the matter, saying he believes the rumors of a trade going around will die down soon and ultimately thinks Beckham will receive the massive contract extension he's looking for:
"He's a great player," Bryant said. "He just wants his money. He wants his money and what he's worth. I hope he gets it. I know he's going to get it. It just takes time."
Considering Beckham is one of the greatest receivers in the league right now, the Giants potentially trading Beckham could be a huge mistake.
