Coventry are set for further discussions with goalkeeper Keiren Westwood in a bid to persuade him to sign a new contract at the Ricoh Arena.

New manager Aidy Boothroyd will return from his holidays this week and securing the future of Republic of Ireland international Westwood, the subject of interest from Premier League clubs, is one of his top priorities.

"We're looking to have more talks with Keiren," City chairman Ray Ranson told the Coventry Telegraph. "His agent has been out in Dublin taking in a game with him and has had a good chat with him, and hopefully we'll get together and sort something out."

If Westwood decides against committing to the club long term, Ranson insists the 25-year-old will not be allowed to leave for free when his contract expires in 12 months.

Ranson added: "It's no surprise all the big clubs want him. We're not soliciting any firm bids, but we're expecting it now the transfer window has opened.

"If it gets so far that we would lose him for nothing on a Bosman free transfer that will not happen - I can assure you. We would be forced to sell him. He won't be leaving this club for nothing, that is for certain."
