There's been a lot of talk about Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder this week.

The two heavyweight champions have been urged by every pundit and boxing fan to finally meet in the ring after Joshua's victory over Joseph Parker on Saturday.

If they were to come face-to-face, we would be crowning the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000.

Nevertheless, it's certainly not a formality that they will meet in the ring, with rumours suggesting they may have other fights lined up.

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn even suggested on Tuesday that he thought Wilder would be facing Dominic Breazeale next, while trying to line up Jarrell Miller for his own client.

Seems silly, doesn't it?

It's the big fight that could potentially define an era, so why is everything possible not being done to sort it?

Well, it seems boxing fans may finally be getting their wish, with Hearn giving a hugely exciting update on Wednesday afternoon.

"I saw Deontay Wilder's Instagram post and it's very confusing," Hearn told Sky Sports.

"Whoever is supposed to be calling or emailing me needs to update their contacts because once again it was us initiating the conversation.

"I called Al Haymon's team yesterday and spoke with Showtime last night and discussions are ongoing.

"I have a meeting with Anthony and Trainer Rob (McCracken) tomorrow where we will map out the rest of 2018.

"I will say it once again, the window for fighting Wilder is 2018, otherwise we will risk it not being an undisputed fight.

"Anthony wants the fight and I'm very confident it will happen," he added.

That's more like it.

It seems that Hearn has finally ditched the negativity and is prepared to start getting stuff done after Wilder declared he was willing to come to England in order for the fight to happen.

A potentially ground-breaking moment in modern day heavyweight boxing could be just around the corner, with Tyson Fury's comeback also set to add yet more fuel to the fire.
