Peter Crouch destroys fan on Twitter

The 37-year-old Stoke City striker spent three years as a Liverpool player and he clearly still feels an affinity to the club.

At the half-time whistle, Crouch posted a tweet celebrating the incredible performance and the atmosphere inside Anfield.

World class comeback!

Crouch scored 22 Premier League goals in a Liverpool shirt but this was probably the best possible way to endear himself to the supporters.

Crouch and the Liverpool fans

"That was quite emotional because I had some great years," said Crouch after being given a standing ovation by the Liverpool fans in 2017. "I've been in the city a lot and I know how people feel about my time at the club."

"It was a successful period for the club so it was nice to get an ovation like that."

Crouch failed to score in his first 18 games as a Liverpool player - but he's a popular man on Merseyside nowadays.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was also impressed by the atmosphere created by the fans on Wednesday night.

"We knew the atmosphere would be brilliant, and it was. We had to make the most of that," said Henderson.

Jurgen Klopp's side will visit the Etihad in the return leg next week as firm favourites to progress to the semi-finals.
