Unless you've been living under a rock for the past two days, you will have seen Cristiano Ronaldo's stunning bicycle kick against Juventus.

Ronaldo produced arguably the finest goal of his career during the Champions League quarter-final with Real Madrid all but booking themselves a place in the final four with a 3-0 win. It was a truly special performance and a truly special strike.

After the game, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner conceded: "It was probably the best goal of my career.

"The whole team great but of course people are now talking about my second goal - it was indeed a spectacular goal.

"I once scored one with the national team which hit the bar and bounced down over the line but the referee didn't give the goal.

"This one was a similar one, well, no, actually this one was better."

Furthermore, rather uncannily, a photograph later emerged of Ronaldo practising bicycle kicks during a training session at the Allianz Stadium before the game.

The images and technique in general were almost identical.

Ronaldo struck the post during pre-match training

Ronaldo has been practising such an acrobatic finish almost all his career and it seems an attempt during a preceding drill was the perfect exercise to ready himself for the final execution.

In addition, the video of that practise attempt has now surfaced and, albeit impressive-looking, it had nothing on the height, power and accuracy of his try during the game.

On this occasion, the post denied him from close range - take a look at the moment below:

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

That was certainly the moral of the story for Ronaldo this week who made it second time lucky with an even trickier opportunity than the one before it.

It was also the perfect manner with which to solidify his rampant return to form in 2018.

Despite making a torrid start to life in 2017-18, the 33-year-old has all but eradicated the unflattering statistics with a glut of goals, assists and top performances.

With a staggering 40 goals in just 38 appearances, it looks like the race for the Ballon d'Or will be as close as ever and you certainly wouldn't write of Real Madrid in Europe.

Even more so when Ronaldo is producing moments of pure genius...
