Liverpool winger Mo Salah continued his incredible debut season at Anfield by scoring the opener in Wednesday night's emphatic Champions League win over Manchester City. The Reds beat Pep Guardiola's runaway league leaders 3-0 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane were all on the scoresheet within 31 minutes in a blistering first-half at Anfield. The Egyptian winger, who joined from Roma for £37.1m last summer, was forced off in the 53rd minute with a groin injury."He said to me immediately after the game: 'all fine, all good'," said Jurgen Klopp to BT Sport."I hope that's the case, we need to wait and hope."Salah is the Premier League's top scorer with 29 goals and is considered a doubt for Saturday's Merseyside derby against Everton.

Kuyt shares a brilliant clip of Salah v Manchester City

Everyone talks about the 25-year-old's influence in the attacking third but retired Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt noticed something amazing Salah did to stop Man City scoring.

Just two minutes after grabbing the opener, Salah busted a gut to help his defence thwart a City counter-attack.

"Scoring goals for fun every match, but this defensive run was vital for the 3-0 score last night. What a game and what a player @22mosalah."

Great spot, Dirk. The former Chelsea flop has been utterly unstoppable since returning to the Premier League.

Van Dijk heaps praise on Salah

"He's that kind of player that you just need to be on your best." said fellow Dutch Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk.

"When he is 100 per cent and in the zone then he can beat anyone.

"I think everyone in the dressing room are just normal guys. Nobody feels better than each other, everybody is working hard for each other to get the win.

"That's a very good thing to have in a team. Everyone knows our team spirit and without all of us Mo wouldn't have scored his goals. Everyone needs to be giving 100 per cent and I think we do that."

Liverpool fans will be desperate for Salah to return from injury in time for Tuesday night's return leg at the Etihad Stadium.

However, attention must first turn to Saturday's tricky trip to Goodison Park.
