RG3 is back! In a surprising move Wednesday, the Ravens announced they had agreed to terms on a one year deal with the former first round pick to back up Joe Flacco in Baltimore.Griffin hasn't played since 2016 when he started five games for the Browns, completing 87 of his 147 pass attempts for 886 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also added 190 yards and two TD's  on the ground.

The Browns cut the former Heisman Trophy winner last march and he sat out the entire 2017 season.

The one-time Pro Bowler fills a need on the roster in Baltimore after Ryan Mallett was allowed to walk in free agency. The franchise reportedly nearly signed Griffin last year too, and were one of the few teams to remain in contact with him.

The hierarchy in Baltimore seemed pretty pleased with the addition:

"He's a very talented quarterback who's had a lot of success in this league early on," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "So we're excited about it. We felt like we needed a No. 2 quarterback. You look at the veteran quarterbacks out there ... I mean, where we're at right now, I'm pretty excited about this player. I'm really feeling like we got a steal."

"He came in last week, worked out. Had a real good workout and we were able to come to an agreement late yesterday. He will probably be here early next week to sign the deal," GM Ozzie Newsome said.

Griffin now has a chance to rebuild his once promising career in Baltimore. After being selected by the Redskins with the second-overall pick in the 2012 draft, Griffin dazzled in his rookie year.

The former Baylor phenom threw for 3,200 yards, 20 touchdowns, five interceptions, posting a 102.4 QB rating while adding 815 rushing yards and seven scores on the ground, earning rookie of the year honours in the process.

Injuries hampered his progression in Washington over the next two years, leading to his benching in favour of Kirk Cousins for the 2015 season. With Cousins impressing, Griffin was released at the end of the year and signed a two-year deal in Cleveland.

Again, injury and inefficient play derailed his chances of being the long term starter for the Browns and he was released after one year. He remains the last QB to win a game for Cleveland though.

Griffin will have to beat out Josh Woodrum for the back up quarterback spot on the Ravens roster, but he seems ready to go and be a team player.
