Pep Guardiola's comments on Friday on Paul Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola were pretty shocking.Speaking on Raiola's recent disparaging remarks about him, Guardiola said: "I don’t understand why I am a so bad guy."I never speak with him so his opinion [about me], I don’t know. But being a guy who two months ago offered me Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us. Why?“Why he offer? He was interested in Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us?"A player of Pogba's stature being offered to his team's local rivals is unheard of - especially when they're also your main competition for the title. It's no surprise that the revelation was met with condemnation for Raiola - a 'super agent' who currently represents some of the game's biggest players. One man who won't be surprised in the slightest, however, is Sir Alex Ferguson. The legendary Manchester United boss had to deal with Raiola back when Pogba first left Manchester for Juventus, and Ferguson's comments from last year now look prophetic. When giving a motivational talk to Rugby team Sale Sharks last summer, Sir Alex was asked what happened with Pogba's departure.

"Paul Pogba? He had a bad agent. A s***bag," he said. "Paul Pogba was well known to us. We knew he was a good player. He's still a good player. We offered him the best contract."

That isn't the only time Ferguson opened up on Raiola, either, mentioning in his autobiography that he held a special place among the agents the 70-year-old had to deal with.

"There are one or two football agents I simply do not like," Ferguson wrote, "and Mino Raiola is one of them."

And so the idea that Raiola is busy pimping his star client to literally anyone who can afford him is hardly the most far-fetched in the world - something that's underlined by the almost unanimous belief in what Guardiola has said.

The odds of United actually selling Pogba to Manchester City seems impossible, but considering Raiola was recently reported to have tried telling Mourinho how to set up his team, he does appear to have the necessary arrogance to believe he could push that one through.

How United deal with the situation remains to be seen - is Pogba worth the hassle?

This certainly won't be the last time that one of their rivals is offered the Frenchman and the hope that Pogba will settle long-term with United is looking less and less likely.

Ferguson had to make that decision once before - and he had no doubts.
