Manchester United produced a miracle second-half comeback at the Etihad Stadium to prevent bitter rivals Manchester City from winning the Premier League title.Pep Guardiola knew prior to the game that a win would be enough to clinch the trophy, but still decided to rest a number of his star players with one eye on their second leg in the Champions League quarter-finals against Liverpool on Tuesday.Star man Kevin De Bruyne was dropped to the bench, as was Sergio Aguero, Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte. And that decision by Guardiola would backfire massively. The home side took a 2-0 lead going into half-time, courtesy of goals from Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan. But Man City fans in the Etihad Stadium were left stunned as a brace from Paul Pogba drew the sides level.Chris Smalling, who had earlier been at fault for Kompany's goal, then atoned for his error by volleying home to give the away side the points.

JOEY BARTON'S TWEET ABOUT KOMPANY

It's fair to say Barton and Kompany have had their differences in the past.

When Manchester City won the title at the Etihad Stadium in 2012 against QPR, Barton launched a headbutt at the Belgian defender after being sent off for the away side.

But, it seems as if the former Burnley man has put those differences behind him.

Barton expressed his admiration for Kompany on Twitter after he opened the scoring for Man City, saying: "Got to love Kompany. I know I once tried to headbutt him but to comeback from those injuries and get back to this level."

Quality. Kompany has had a torrid time with injuries in recent years, having only made 53 appearances in the past three seasons.

But despite being on the treatment table for so long he has maintained his place in the Man City side, despite Pep Guardiola spending hundreds of millions on defenders.

Despite Man United's comeback on Saturday, Kompany remains one of the, if not the best defender in the Premier League.

It's good to see Barton recognise that fact, despite their past.

WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN BARTON AND KOMPANY

If you do not know what incident Barton was referring to, you can watch it below.

After Barton was sent off for elbowing Carlos Tevez, he proceeded to kick Aguero. When Kompany objected, he then headbutted him.
