Anthony Davis and Rajon Rondo showed the world that the New Orleans Pelicans can still compete in the playoffs when they arrive next weekend despite the absence of DeMarcus Cousins after they put on a show against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday. The Pelicans defeated the Warriors 126-120 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland yesterday, with Davis being the top performer on the court for the visitors with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists, while also adding two steals, four blocks, and shooting 13-of-24 from the field.Rondo wasn't too far behind his New Orleans teammate, but he was more a provider than a scorer, as he finished with 12 points, four rebounds, and 17 assists. One of his 17 assists connected with Davis to complete a fantastic half-court alley-oop.In the third quarter of the game, the Pelicans guard had possession of the ball near the half-court line, and upon seeing Davis drive into the Warriors' paint, he threw the ball up in the air towards the basket for his teammate to grab. The Pelicans forward grabbed the ball out of the air with two hands and slammed it home to complete the monster half-court alley-oop. From that point on, it always looked like it was going to be New Orleans' day.

Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry was very happy with his team's performance, as he felt they played as perfect as you have to in order to beat the Warriors at their own place.

He said after the game to ESPN: "I just thought we played about as perfect as you have to play to beat them. They're just such a great team. They just keep coming at you. We were never comfortable."

The Pelicans play next on Monday night when they travel to Los Angeles to play against the Clippers. If they're able to win in this game, they'll book their spot in the playoffs for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
