Real Madrid are now 15 points behind unbeaten leaders Barcelona in La Liga after being held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid on Sunday.

Cristiano Ronaldo continued his ridiculously good form in 2018 by scoring the opener in the 53rd-minute, but Atleti's star man Antoine Griezmann equalised just four minutes later.

The defending Spanish and European champions enjoyed 69% possession and hit the woodwork twice, through Marco Asensio and a brilliant strike from Marcelo.

Despite being a left-back, the Brazilian is hugely influential in Real's build-up play along with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric due to his driving, lung-busting runs forward into the final third.

Zinedine Zidane's men remain behind Atletico in the table, but there was one moment from Marcelo late on which left even the Bernabeu crowd in absolute awe.

Marcelo stuns Bernabeu with magical moment

In the 88th-minute, and with Los Blancos searching for a winner, Diego Godin diverted the initial attack before Lucas Hernandez smashed the ball high and out of Atletico's penalty area.

However, in simply exquisite fashion, and with every other player waiting for the ball to drop out of the sky, Marcelo pulled off an unbelievable skill to find substitute Isco.

As you can see below, the 29-year-old cushioned the ball perfectly with a stunning right-foot touch, managing to flick it over the onrushing Gabi and into the path of his teammate.

Fans react to Marcelo's touch on Twitter

As you can imagine, several football fans took to Twitter after Marcelo's magical touch to express just how good it was - check out the best reaction:

Marcelo, regarded by many as the world's best left-back, has been at Real since 2007 and has racked up nearly 450 appearances in addition to winning multiple titles and trophies.

The Brazil international scored in the 3-0 win at Juventus on Tuesday and Madrid now turn their attention to Wednesday's Champions League return leg with the Italian champions.

Given their inconsistent 2017-18 league campaign and Copa del Rey exit, winning Europe's premier club competition for the third time in a row is Real's only route to silverware this term.
