Thomas Tuchel has been hot property for much of the season given the unrest at several top clubs around Europe.

Chelsea have been keeping tabs on the German ever since Antonio Conte’s position at Stamford Bridge came into question, while Arsenal are also chasing him in preparation for the potential departure of Arsene Wenger this summer.

Outside of England, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are thought to be interested in rivalling the Premier League duo for his services.

It’s little wonder Tuchel has caught the eye of such prestigious suitors considering the respect he earned for his achievements at Borussia Dortmund and Mainz.

Known for his tactical similarities to the current Liverpool manager, he’s even received Jupp Heynckes’ approval to succeed him at the Allianz Arena this summer.

“Thomas Tuchel has the quality to coach Bayern,” the Bayern boss said in March, per the offical Bundesliga website.

“He progressed through the youth teams at Mainz. That’s the path to success that you must take, learning the right approach and people skills.

“Under Tuchel, Borussia Dortmund played excellent football with a good system - all the modern footballing elements that are prevalent today were plain to see. Tuchel’s team finished runners-up, won the DFB Cup and played attractive football. I enjoyed watching BVB, that’s why I respect and rate him as a very good coach. Dortmund aren’t as good a footballing side now as they were under Tuchel.”

Given the respect he has among his peers, it’s difficult to believe nobody has snapped up Tuchel since he was given his marching orders by the Dortmund hierarchy 12 months ago.

But following reported approaches from multiple clubs, it seems the in-demand manager has finally agreed to put pen to paper with one of his many admirers.

According to Bild, via the Metro, Tuchel will sign a two-year contract with PSG to replace Unai Emery following a disappointing Champions League campaign.

While nothing is official just yet, the news could be hugely disappointing for Chelsea and Arsenal, who appeared to be the longstanding frontrunners to secure him.

Whether they have other targets lined up will be revealed in due course, but for now, it looks as if PSG’s financial might has triumphed yet again.
