Since the Super Bowl, we've heard reports about the possible problems between the New England Patriots and their tight end Rob Gronkowski, but it seems the problems between these two parties span even further back than what many people expected.

One of the main talking points coming out of New England last season was the relationship between head coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady over Brady's personal trainer, Alex Guerrero.

Belichick reportedly revoked Guerrero's access to the Patriots players who had been using his services instead of the team's own doctors for their recoveries from injury, leaving the players undecided on who to follow and listen to, their head coach or their quarterback.

One of the other Patriots stars besides Brady that was using Guerrero to improve and recover was Gronkowski, and according to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald, Belichick chastised Gronkowski in front of other Patriots players for training with Brady's personal trainer at the start of last season.

This is reportedly where the problems between the tight end and the Patriots have stemmed from, which ultimately lead to the surprising comments by Gronkowski after the Super Bowl loss in February where he was unsure if he would be returning to the team for the 2018 season.

Gronk is reportedly now returning to the Patriots in 2018, but until we see him actually at training camp, or confirm it himself, some might find it hard to believe, especially after his Super Bowl comments.

Working with Guerrero seems to be doing the trick for the tight end, as in 2017, he had one of his best seasons in a Patriots uniform, having 69 receptions for 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns, missing only one game through injury, and one game through suspension.

Being pliable, just like Brady, will certainly help Gronkowski prolong his career, especially with how injury-riddled it has already been despite the fact he's only going to be 29 by the start of the 2018 season. Training with Guerrero is probably the right way to go for him, whether Belichick likes it or not.
