Jurgen Klopp deserves great credit at Liverpool. The German boss took over the Reds in 2015 with the club struggling, but he has since transformed their fortunes. As well as establishing Liverpool's place inside the top four in the Premier League, Klopp has also managed to guide his team to the semi-finals of the Champions League. Many expected that the task of Manchester City would be too tough for them, but the Merseyside club emerged with some style.Klopp's men secured a terrific 3-0 win at Anfield a week ago, which effectively put the tie to bed.And they finished the job last night after overcoming the Premier League leaders 2-1 on the night, making it an impressive 5-1 victory on aggregate.

TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD IMPRESSES

Trent Alexander-Arnold only made his debut last season, but he has been sensational since coming into the side.

However, before the first leg, many expected that he would not be able to cope with the brilliance of Leroy Sane.

How wrong his doubters were.

At 19 years old and with little experience, he contained the German winger for the majority of the tie. He hardly gave Sane a sniff.

He has earned his fair share of plaudits, with Gary Lineker leading the tributes after another accomplished display at right-back last night.

Taking to Twitter to express his amazement, Lineker said: "So impressed with Trent Alexander-Arnold. A teenager playing with an assuredness and maturity way beyond his years."

Right you are, Gary.

Alexander-Arnold was superb. Despite his inexperience, the occasion did not overawe him. He looked in place in the Champions League quarter-finals, which is rare to see from someone so young.

STEVEN GERRARD THINKS HE WAS THE STAR MAN

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard also singled out the youngster for his performances across the two legs, stating that he was in fact the star man.

“Look at his age, the magnitude of the game over both legs, who he was up against,” Gerrard told BT Sport.

“He has to be the star man over two legs.

“To be fair to the kid he stood up so well…The manager’s confidence in him to keep him on with a yellow card speaks volumes of their relationship.”

CLAIMS HE SHOULD GO TO THE WORLD CUP

Frank Lampard, who also covered the game on BT Sport last night, thinks that the youngster should go to the World Cup in Russia.

“He's timing his run [of form] brilliantly. His calmness on the ball, we’re trying to play out from the back with England and the boy’s so comfortable on the ball,” he stated.

“He has a massive game ahead of him to show it again and again and if he does it at this level, why not?”

And Rio Ferdinand echoed that praise, claiming that he looked every bit as good as starting England right-back, Kyle Walker.

"The England right back Walker was out there. If you didn't know who they were and came to watch a game of football, who looks better? It has to be Trent."
