Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun has agreed a deal with Chelsea, according to reports in Israel.
Benayoun has linked with the Premier League champions ever since it became clear Joe Cole did not want to stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Israel Sport 5 website claims Benayoun, 30, has agreed a four-year deal with Carlo Ancelotti’s side in a deal similar to that mooted by the player last month.
Although the two clubs have not yet agreed a fee, Benayoun previously said he was on the verge of a £6 million move and that seems to be about to come to fruition.
Benayoun said: “Everything depends on Liverpool. Chelsea will have to pay some £6 million but I believe that in the end I’ll be moving there.”
The Anfield side are a club in crisis and have recently parted company with manager Rafael Benitez.
Benayoun will feel now is the right time to move on, while Steven Gerrard has been linked with a multi-million pound move to Manchester City with Stephen Ireland going in the opposite direction.
